Champion Lends Intellectual Property Expertise to Craft Trade Association

Recently, Craft Industry Alliance turned to founding partner Austin Champion for his intellectual property expertise on an emerging industry trend involving generative AI and creative e-commerce platforms like Etsy. Champion’s insights were included in the article “Etsy’s AI problem” in the June edition of the trade association’s monthly newsletter, which is read by nearly 20,000 subscribers, including many in the C-suite at America’s top craft companies.

“Some may argue that AI is merely copying existing works, which is copyright infringement. But other people argue that we all learn how to create unique works of art by studying the works of art that come before us,” Champion said.
